The support of the Cuban government and specialists for the United Nations Development Program is impressive, affirmed UNDP administrator Kemal Dervis on Monday.
The island is playing a decisive role in this part of the world by its support to important sectors for the development of education, health and sports, the Turkish economist reported.
The high-ranking UN official told Prensa Latina he is in Cuba “to learn from Cubans, and perhaps contribute some of our experiences.”
I know the problems of the Cuban economy, the situation of the US blockade against the island, so we very much value the efforts of the country and the changes that it has made to continue developing in fundamental areas, he said.
Dervis recognized that Cuba is a country very active in the United Nations and so, he said, these exchanges are very important to plan future work.
