Cuba reiterated on Monday the US must condemn as terrorist the internationally infamous criminal Luis Posada Carriles, mastermind of the explosion in mid air of a Cuban airplane with 73 passengers aboard in 1976.

The Cuban Foreign Affairs Ministry (MINREX) stated in a declaration published by Granma newspaper that the January 11 reading of US charges against terrorist Posada did not mention terrorism.

The United States, pointed out the daily, should have considered by its own laws that Posada is a terrorist, and charged him accordingly.

“That would have de-emphasized the whole El Paso mogratory issue, which has been used as a cover up to protect Posada and avoid publishing those secrets he knows on covert actions and his links with the anti-Cuban Mafia,” said the article.

The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Relations hopes the charges against that terrorist for migratory crimes of minor importance does not become a smokescreen to exempt him from the dangerous crime of terrorism.
