Russian, Cuban Legislatures Cooperate
President of the Russian Government Mijail Fradkov highlighted Friday the importance of the cooperation between his country¢s Parliament and that of Cuba, after meeting with the island¢s legislative leader Ricardo Alarcon.
Fradkov stressed Alarcon¢s long work heading the unicameral National Assembly of Peoples¢ Power and recalled successive meetings between his Russian colleagues and their Cuban counterparts.
The Russian official spoke of the visit to Havana last year by Duma (Lower House) First Vice President Liubov Slistka, and considered political contacts very fluid and at a high level.
The head of Russian government and Cuban First Vice President Raul Castro held official talks Thursday at Havana¢s Revolution Palace, and then signed five bilateral documents.
Fradkov¢s visit concludes today, after fulfilling a full working agenda in this capital.
