Cuban Neighborhood Group Turns 46
More than 8,327 thousands citizens are members of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) the most important grassroots organization in the country, which recently celebrated its 46th Anniversary.
The figure represents 96 percent of people over 14 years old in the island, stressed Juventud Rebelde daily news in its Friday edition, summarizing the national ceremony held in Gramma province Thursday.
During the event, attended by more than 60 thousands people, the CDR National Coordinator showed most people support the nation s social project.
One of the recent achievements of the organization is to have contributed voluntarily with more than 472 thousand blood donations, expressed the leader.
The member of the Political Bureau Jose Ramon Machado emphasized the need Cuba has in this historical moment is good functioning of the CDR.
The leader referred to the importance to achieving larger participation in defense activities, especially since the so-called Plan Bush has a secret clause that suggests “armed attack of Cuba.”
