The case of five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters imprisoned in the US, despite legal decisions in favor of their release, continues Friday gathering concerned people worldwide.

The Panamanian Ecumenical Committee denounced the violation of these men s human rights and urged Washington to correct the situation.

In Kazakhstan, hundreds of students attended debates, conferences and cultural events to learn about the mission of the Cuban Five.

In Greece, over 20 unions have officially voiced today their solidarity for the release of the Cuban Five and the Cuban ambassador there said that the Five issue has received much coverage.

In China, the Cuban diplomatic mission in Beijing held a conference in favor of the Five, in which ambassador Carlos Miguel Pereira Hernandez denounced US double standards.

He explained the Cuban Five are victims, whose mission was gathering information about terrorist plots by anti-Cuban organizations in Miami, Florida, in an effort to prevent the deaths of Cuban and even United States citizens.

The French Committee for the Release of the Five presented a call to finance the publication of an article in Le Monde daily on the truth in this case.

Antonio Guerrero, Rene Gonzalez, Ramon LabaƱino, Gerardo Hernandez and Fernando Gonzalez, universally known as the Cuban Five, were detained on September 12, 1998 in Miami, and convicted and sentenced in a rigged trial in Miami to harsh sentences ranging from 15 years to double life terms.

On August 9, 2005, a panel of three judges assigned by the US Court of Appeals 11th Circuit in Atlanta reversed their convictions, declared the trial null and remanded a new trial outside of Miami.

But in a surprise decision two months ago, the en banc court decided to uphold the original sentence and keep them confined.
