Cuba Names New Informatics Minister
The Council of States of the Republic of Cuba appointed Ramiro Valdes new Minister for Informatics and Communications.
Granma daily said Valdes, so far president of the Electronics Group, replaces Ignacio Gonzalez, who will assume new responsibilities.

Non Aligned Movement in Uneasy World
The 14th Non Aligned Summit will run amid wars, illegal invasions and social maladies that mainly threaten the Third World.
Havana will be the second-time NAM host of 116 countries at the Sept 11-16 Summit, amid doubts the NAM s very existence and the mission to adopt a common stand on the world s fragile situation.

Venezuelan Director Defends Cuba
Venezuelan filmmaker and 2006 National Film prizewinner Carlos Azpurua condemned the US interference in Cuba s internal affairs.Personalities who signed the document
The outstanding director described it “unacceptable that a country tries to become a gendarme and foments interference in Cuba s internal issues.”

US Pre-Med Students in Cuba
Rev. Lucius Walker, leader of the group Pastor for Peace, is in Havana accompanied by 13 US students who will study medicine in the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) in September.
In statements to Prensa Latina, Walker said that the US scholarship holders have the hope to become doctors with the tradition of Cuban experts, as well as fulfill a dream to which they don’t have access in United States.

Syrian President Well Wishes Fidel
Syrias President Bachar Al Assad sent a get-well message to Cuban leader Fidel Castro wishing him a prompt recovery and reaffirming his solidarity against US threats of the Caribbean country”s sovereignty.Fidel Castro Better Every Day
Syrian Minister of Information Mohsen Bilal, who was the special envoy of Al Assad, gave the message to Cuban Army General Raul Castro, Granma daily reported on Tuesday.
