Cuban Workers Union (CTC) affiliates described President Fidel Castros participation in the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) Summit as historic, according to a press note.

The CTC National Secretariat also extolled the presence of Venezuelan and Bolivian Presidents Hugo Chavez and Evo Morales, respectively, together with counterparts from Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, in the forum recently held in the Argentine province of Cordoba.

Ruben Arturo Silie, general secretary of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), highlighted Cuba’s contribution in the struggle against natural disasters and sustainable development in the region.
