The secret chapter of the latest Bush Plan on Cuba has among its numerous antecedents the “Patty Plan”, with which the US tried to assassinate Cuban President Fidel Castro on July 26, 1961.

An article published by Granma daily on Friday recalled a vast US government terrorist plan to destroy the Cuban revolutionary process, in which Guantanamo Naval Base, a Cuban territory illegally occupied by the US, was included.

The 2nd International Conference on Applied Electromagnetism will hold sessions in May 2007 in this eastern city, the 15 year home of the only Cuban center dedicated to that research.

The aim is to foster the use of this physical agent in economy and health, analyze its effect in diagnosis and therapy of diseases like cancer, AIDS and kidney failure, as well as its application in biotechnology, sustainable agriculture, management of plagues and illnesses, and energy efficiency.

Using its own resources, Cuba will soon start building its first eolian park in a northeastern coastal area, which is ideal to develop that alternative energy source from wind activity.

Vladimir Alvarez, a specialist of the Integral Directive Board of the Eolian Project in Holguin, told Prensa Latina ground movement will start in August on the Gibara coast, where six generators will be placed.

Cuban Higher Education has consolidated its universities for mature adults on a national level this academic year, registering 16,475 students in basic college courses and 8,737 in continuing ed.

The classes in the 869 centers around the country are taught by more than 5,000 professors, the Cuban Higher Education Ministry informed Thursday at a meeting in Havana.

Friends and supporters of Cuba held an activity in Philadelphia Wednesday, to honor the 53rd anniversary of the attack on the Moncada Garrison on July 26, 1953, marking the start of the Cuban Revolution led by President Fidel Castro.

Lillian Halloway, a young woman from Philadelphia currently studying in Havana´s Latin American School of Medicine, extolled Cuba´s efforts to make quality healthcare available for all people, even the poorest communities.
