Return of Elian: Failure of Anti-Cuba Policy
Six years after the return of the boy Elian Gonzalez to Cuba, the political offensive carried out by Cubans since 1999 presages the failure of Washington´s old-fashioned hostile policy against the Caribbean Island.
According to local analysts, on June 28, 2000, when Elian descended from a plane in his father Juan Miguel´s arms in Havana, the first combat of what Cuban authorities have called the Battle of Ideas was won.

Cuban Stamp Collector Awarded
Cuban Daniel Montes won the greatest award for a stamp collector in the World Stamp Collecting Exhibition, held in the United States, Granma official daily reported on Thursday.
The Grand Youth Award and Vermeil Medal were granted to the 18-year-old stamp collector, due to his Cuba Colonial collection, the newspaper said.

Bio-Agriculture in Cuba
A million hectares are protected in Cuba with biological products of national production, with 75 percent of reductions of pesticide consumption and a saving of hundreds of millions of dollars.
Dr Orieta Fernandez-Larrea reported biological control is part of a national program in which 175 centers of entomopathogenous and entomophagus microrganism reproduction, four fermentation plants and one biofactory participate.

Internet Opens up Cuba
Cuba is advancing in providing social access to Internet through the opening of connections in schools, medical centers and other state entities, among which Youth Computing Clubs (JCE) stand out.
These institutions, pioneers of the free and mass program of the Revolution intended to provide computing education to people of all ages, constitute an important link to widen people’s access to the world network.

Cuba Enhances Blind-Deaf Education
Cuba will end its 2005-2006 school year in July with over 140 deaf-blind children and youth enjoying open classrooms.
The national education program for people with special needs involves teachers working at the homes of physically impaired students suffering additional limitations or living in isolated areas.
