Fidel Castro at May Day Celebration
President Fidel Castro is leading the International Labor Day celebrations at Havanas Revolution Square, where a tens of thousands of the city residents had gathered since dawn carrying Cuban flags and banners with revolutionary mottos.Cuba Unions: Socialism Irreversible
At the Monument to National Hero Jose Marti, the Cuban leader is accompanied by members of the Communist Party Political Bureau and members of the National Labor Federation (CTC).
The people also chanted the national Anthem and the song to the 26th of July, date that marked the beginning of the struggle against dictator Fulgencio Batista in 1953.
All around the island of 11,2 million inhabitants, Cubans are celebrating May Day. According to rally organizers, over seven million people turned out into the main squares of cities and towns.
