President of the Ghanaian Parliament, Ebenezer Sekyi Hugues, confirmed Thursday that African country would widen bilateral relations with Cuba.
Ghana will extend its parliamentary and commercial collaboration with this Caribbean people, declared the Ghanaian congressional leader before leaving the Island, where he exchanged information on various sectors of development, such as public health, education and sports.
We have analyzed with Cuban authorities the possibility to increase fields of cooperation through a new Medical Sciences department in this African country, which will considerably expand our ability to form more health professionals, the official asserted.
Hugues praised the traditional links with Cuba and referred to the collaboration agreements with Labiofam, a Cuban enterprise producing medicines to treat malaria and other diseases affecting the African population.
The visit of the head of the Ghanaian Parliament to Havana included meetings with authorities of the Foreign Relations and Labor and Social Security Ministries, the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples.
Similarly, he visited historic, scientific, economic and cultural institutions and the Latin American School of Medicine, where hundreds of African students are receiving professional training.
