Fidel Castro at May Day Celebration
President Fidel Castro is leading the International Labor Day celebrations at Havanas Revolution Square, where a tens of thousands of the city residents had gathered since dawn carrying Cuban flags and banners with revolutionary mottos.Cuba Unions: Socialism Irreversible

Cuba, a Model in Vaccination Programs
Cuba is a model for vaccination programs and has a lot to teach the rest of the world, said Dr. Lea Guido, representative in Cuba for the Pan American Health Organization, in an activity for culmination of vaccination week in the Americas Friday.
The leadership and methodology for vaccinations, created and supported by the policy of the Cuban government for more than 40 years, let Cuba be the first in America to eradicate poliomyelitis, Dr. Guido noted.

Cuba Loses Notable Newsman
Outstanding Cuban journalist Joaquin Oramas Roque, Jose Marti National Journalism Award winner for his lifetime of work, died Thursday evening aged 74 years old of a heart attack.
Oramas, founder of Granma daily, the official organ of Cuba´s Communist Party (PCC), was head of Granma International editorial department.

Evo for Alternative Lat Am Economics
Bolivian President Evo Morales declared Friday that his meeting in Havana with his Cuban and Venezuelan counterparts will promote alternatives to the economic model prevailing in Latin America.
This meeting will be one more step toward the goal of changing the neoliberal system that predominates in our continent, and give a shove to the decolonization process, such as we are experiencing in Bolivia, Morales said on his arrival.

Cuba to UN, We Still Help Chernobyl Children
More than 18,000 children, victims of the disaster at Chernobyls nuclear station 20 years ago, have received assistance in Cuba, Cuban Ambassador to the UN Rodrigo Malmierca reported on Friday.
The Cuban permanent representative to the United Nations told a special session on the anniversary of the Tarara Humanitarian Program begun in 1990, that this program was especially designed for patients affected by that accident.
