Cuba denounced the George W. Bush administration for increasing hostility through tightening its blockade, additional travel reduction and extraterritorial laws.

The editorial in Granma daily on a second useless Bush Plan against Cuba depicts Washington´s ravenous chase of these goals.

Living Cuban boxing legend Teofilo Stevenson, considered to be the best amateur heavyweight ever, goes back to the international ring arena but as supervisor of referees.

The International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) decision recognizes the prestige of Stevenson, who won three World and Olympic titles in his career.

Cuban President Fidel Castro received the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE) Executive Secretary Alvaro Rios, who is visiting Thursday local power generation centers and other energy related facilities in western Cuba.

Fidel and Rios, on his first visit to the island nation, discussed the global energy situation and the Latin American and the Caribbean panorama.

The Cuban Higher Institute of Arts (ISA) conferred the Doctor Honoris Causa on renowned French architect Jean Nouvel, one of the world celebrities attending the 9th Havana Biennial.

In the activity held at the ISA headquarters on Wednesday, Nouvel said the award honored him and highly praised its meaning.

A group of 256 Cuban doctors paramedics and supporting staff from the Henry Reeve International Medical Contingent returned home from Pakistan after aiding victims of the devastating October 8 quake.

Before leaving Pakistan, the doctors attended a farewell ceremony at the Park Continental hotel where they received certificates for their mission, reports Granma daily Thursday.

Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, who is visiting Pakistan, also saw them off.

Nearly 200 Pakistani specialists are currently working with Cubans at the 32 field hospitals donated by the Caribbean island to later assume the services.
