Around 167 friendship organizations, parties and personalities from 20 Spanish autonomous provinces have begun a national drive for the release of the Cuban Five.

The document was signed by representatives of Madrid, Catalonia, Valencia, Valladolid, Zaragoza, Alicante, Andalucia, Asturias, Burgos.

Also on the list are the Canary Islands Extremadura, Euskadi, La Rioja, Leon, Mallorca, Murcia, Navarra, Salamanca, Teruel and Toledo.

The Cuban Five, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labanino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez infiltrated terrorist organizations in Miami to frustrate anti-Cuba attacks.

The text reaffirms Cuba’s right to fend off US imperialist aggressions and recalled the over 3,000 dead and 2,700 wounded victims of terrorist attacks over 47 years.

The Five have suffered an inhumane prison regime: long periods in isolation, zero contact and mounting obstacles to see their family.

The manifesto compares such cruelty with the legal and political impunity given to terrorists like Orlando Bosch or criminal Luis Posada Carriles.

The Aug 9 verdict for the Five ruled the case’s annulment but the Five remain kidnapped by the US authorities.

This is why the signers reaffirm their solidarity with the Cuban patriots and firm commitment to their release.
