Havana.- The Academy of Sciences of Cuba granted one of its national awards to the Cuban-made tetravalent vaccine Trivac HB, as an acknowledgement of scientific research in 2005.

The vaccine, which provides immunization against whooping cough, tetanus, diphtheria and hepatitis B, has been administered to Cuban children since 2005.

Havana.- Western Havana province has improved the Integrated Medical Emergency System (SIUM) after the incorporation of new ambulances in that sector.

Local experts said that 24 new ambulances were incorporated to the health system to improve the response capacity of the SIUM.

Havana.- Cuba’s health system has taken a series of measures to prevent outbreaks of hepatitis A, a disease that has not been reported in the country since 2000.

Officials from the Ministry of Public Health recalled that the disease has a contagion cycle of seven years in Cuba, thus the importance of strengthening the strategy to prevent an outbreak.

Paris.- The consortium Accor will consolidate its position in the Chinese city of Macao after opening a new hotel, thus expanding its presence in the Asian country.

The Sofitel Macau Hotel, whose inauguration is scheduled for next year, is located by the sea and will offer 440 rooms distributed in 17 floors. Its architectural style recreates the city’s colonial history.
