Eastern Cuba Boosts Business
Havana.- Eastern Camagüey province has become an excellent venue for commercial transactions at the 2006 Business Meeting.
During the annual event, 12 letters of intent and a similar number of agreements were signed, totaling 2.5 million convertible pesos.

Cuba Fosters Intensive Fish Raising
Havana.- Cuba’s fishing industry, which has greatly contributed to food production in the country, is boosting intensive fish raising to increase captures.
Precisely, that is one of the methods being used by aquiculture workers in eastern Las Tunas province, where 200 floating cages have been planted in the region’s reservoirs to capture 200 tons of tilapias, and where local companies are raising catfish.

Cuban Company Dorna Gets International Award
Havana.- The Commercial Group Dorna, based in the eastern Cuban province of Holguín, will receive the Star Quality Award in the Golden category in April.
The award, to be granted during the 10th International Quality Convention in Paris, acknowledges successful management by companies that specialize in hotel decoration and floral arrangements.

New Investments in Cuba’s Food Canning Industry
Havana.- The vegetable and fruit canning factory La Conchita has benefited from a broad investment program.
The plant, located in western Pinar del Río province, will be equipped with new labeling machines and equipment for the juice canning line.

Cuba Gets Ready for New Anti-Polio Campaign
Havana.- Cuba’s health system is ready to kick off a new nationwide vaccination campaign against poliomyelitis among children, as part of the country’s immunization program.
According to experts, the 45th Vaccination Campaign will begin in late February to prevent poliomyelitis, which is caused by a virus that can cause atrophy of the limbs and paralysis.
